“Every breath on this earth is an opportunity to re-write my story and make it even more beautiful than it was yesterday” – Electra Carter.
There are times when we seem to believe that when everything turns to chaos, it is ‘our fault’. I have good news for you. It is not you. It is not ‘your fault’. It’s your pattern.
Patterns are powerful in influencing the way we live. If they are good patterns and they get us the result we want, happy days. But what happens when they are not good ones? They can harm us, and they can impact our quality of life.
- There is a pattern in the way you think
- There is a pattern in the way you feel
- There is a pattern in the way you react
- There is a pattern in the way you express yourself/communicate
… and so on …

Patterns, good or bad, are ‘born’ out of our beliefs. They are ‘born’ out of the formative events that happened at some point in our past – usually when we were kids.
Understanding our pattern in any given situation and understanding how it affects us is the first step towards making the shift we want in our lives. It involves recognising recurring elements or behaviours and making sense of them through observation, analysis, and interpretation.
- Why am I triggered?
- Why do I cry when I talk about this topic?
- Why do I get offended?
- Why do I feel afraid in this situation?
- Why do I find it hard to let go?
My advice: Answer 5 WHYs, one after the other, to explore why you are triggered in any given situation. Write them down or discuss them with someone.
Understanding your triggers and their underlying causes is a crucial step in managing your emotional responses and finding healthy coping mechanisms. Mindfulness practices, daily rituals and self-reflection are the first steps to take in this process – the rest will follow.
Take care out there, everyone.
Lots of love,
Electra-:)
