One of my female colleagues, Sabrah, at the time would look at me and say: “You are such a little fashionista Electra” (with a smile).
I give credit to myself for looking fashionable and professional on a limited budget. It showed my creativity, resourcefulness, and my eye for style.
The best bit in all of these was not the style or the clothes, those were the tip of the iceberg.

The mindset I’ve always had was that the way I would look after myself on the outside was a mirror on how I would look after my actual work.
I am a firm believer that someone who has the energy to be clean, smell nice, and take the time to look polished and professional at the start of their working day is often someone who has double the energy to do the work that they are paid for.
I believe in this because I am one of them and I would not have it any other way. I mean come on who does not enjoy being clean and looking good? All it takes is a fully focused dedicated 45 -60 minutes at the start of your day. Trust me it is a good time investment (and enjoyable) if done properly.
I am the living proof that you don’t need to spend a lot to make a strong impression in your career (especially if you are living in the United Kingdom).
The key is often in selecting versatile, timeless pieces and pairing them in a way that elevates your look. This is what I have always been doing.
Shopping smartly, in places like H&M, New Look, and Primark, offered access to affordable fashion that can still project professionalism.
Accessories and proper fit made a huge difference, turning even simple outfits into something polished.

I had clearly mastered balancing style with practicality from the start! I keep going today…… because self-mastery is a never-ending journey in all areas of life.
Check out my next blog titled: ‘The practicalities on how to look polished, elegant, and professional at work’.
There I share the practicalities on how I always looked elegant, polished, and professional at work.
I look forward to seeing you in my next blog.
